Capathia Jenkins, grappling with two clashing passions each with their own strong grip, acting and music, yet she refuses to pick one because they both represent her soul. Capathia approaches her singing the same way she approaches a script, like an artist. She looks for the nuances, the secrets hidden within the notes. She seeks the melody, harmony and rhythm. As an active concert artist, Ms. Jenkins has appeared with orchestras around the world. “I always knew I wanted to sing,” Jenkins says. “I just didn’t know that my life would be musical theater on Broadway. And now, the last ten years or so, with symphony orchestras around the world. It’s all sort of like a dream I didn’t know I had. It was just my dream to sing.”
The Deer Valley Music Festival hosts concerts in an eight-week series in July and early August with a diverse line-up of world renown guests and artists, all with the backing of the world-famous Utah Symphony. The Utah Symphony’s Patriotic Pops featuring Capathia Jenkins will be conducted by Conner Grey Covington.
